Do & Don't

When arriving in Prague for the first time, one gets deligheted but, in order to have everything set & ready for a great time, few details are essential.

On this section, Student Zone Prague would like to recommend you the following:

DO's

Do make sure to bring your European Health Insurance Card. Everyone can get one back at their home countries. This blue card can make your life easier if a visit to the hospital is needed.

Do register yourself at your Country consulate. If any help is needed, they will be aware of you and able to assist you even in case of lost documents.

A full list of Diplomatic missions in Prague is available here: http://www.mzv.cz

If you are Non-EU nationals, you have to register in Foreign police.

DONT's

AVOID SCAMS Do not pick any taxi from the street, especially in Prague 1. The probability of scam is 99% and taxi driver will charge you crazy amount.

Visit our Taxi section to find which popular Taxis are recommended: http://www.istudentzone.cz/en/erasmus/arrival/taxi/

Do not agree to take a room or a flat without visiting it first. The rate of scams, just as the taxi scam take place quite often, with stories of people being scamed by wrong images of the final flat/rooms represent. Note that, if you are on budget. We would also recommend to avoid Real Estate agencies as they will charge you a third fee (commission) for the flat you take from them.

Do not exchange your money currency in any place, the rate will either be lower or commission will be high. There are stories of people receiving Hungarian money, so make sure to know Czech money before hand!

If you need to exchange your money, we recommend you to read Exchange Money section here: http://www.istudentzone.cz/en/erasmus/arrival/exchange/

Do not loose an eye on your belongings when on Public Transport. Pickpocketing happens quite often in Prague's Public transport, especially on night transport when travel is asleep. There are stories of Erasmus students falling asleep on Metro & Tram especially after parties and waking up without phone & documents.
