Things to do in Prague - Strahov Monastery Library

A place not to be missed on a visit to Prague is the Strahov Monastery, one of the oldest Premonstratensian monasteries still in existence in the world with elegant spires of the basilica and a wonderful exquisite library that you may recognise from movies or TV series like the BBC Musketeers (King Louis meets with Cardinal Richelieu in the Theological Hall a few times).  This impressive library houses over 200,000 volumes, of which 3,000 are original manuscripts.

The Theological and Philosophical Halls of the Strahov Monastery library are really beautiful and although you cannot walk around the halls, you get a good view from the entrance to the rooms and can admire all its beauty.

The main entrance is to the Monastery Gallery and Cloister and the Church entrance is for the Strahov Library. They each have separate entrance fees. The entrance fee for the Library is 100 Koruna (50 if students up to the age of 27) and add an extra 50 if you want to take photos inside.

Note that you will also enjoy a lovely view of the whole of Prague once you get to the Hill next to the Monastery and there is a cafe if you fancy a beer or refreshments.
