Best of extraordinary Prague bars

Pining for some adventure and seeking for an unusual, quirky, local and crowded place to drink a night away? From grungy places to the local joints here’s a list of bars and pubs to check out.

The Pub – Pilsner Unique Bar

This place offers a drinking experience like no other – individual beer taps that you get to operate yourself! Each table has its own beer tap and is ‘logged in’ so that you can keep track of how many beers you’re drinking and, perhaps more importantly, how good you’re at drinking compared with the rest of the pub. There is a huge screen which broadcasts the stats from the given restaurant and all the the other pubs in the Czech Republic, so the competition is big! The competition ensures the lively atmosphere and if you like beer, you should really give this amazing concept a try! The food there is yummy and the prices are decent. The PUB can be found in 5 locations in the centre of Prague! For more information, visit www.thepub.cz.

Prague Beer Museum Pub

Located on Dlouhá Street, the popular nightspot in the heart of the historical Old Town, this unique bar boasts a wide selection of beer from Czech microbrews. There are over 30 different brews on tap on offer – from pilsners and dark lagers over Indian and English place ales and wheat beers to exotic raspberry and cherry flavored beers. There are also five or ten-beer tasters available, along with a range of beer cocktails and bar food. This is a hotspot for lovers of beer or those wishing to know more about the local culture. Big Lebowski

Do you want to be able to choose how much you’ll pay for your drink? Are you a fan of the Big Lebowski movie and/or addicted to White Russians? Then look no further, because the Big Lebowski bar can offer all of that and more! This unique place is located in the vicinity of Jířího z Poděbrad Square and is always crowded with a mix of Erasmus and local students. Besides the tasty White Russians they also offer beer on tap, Moravian wines and hookah and you can choose to pay in CZK, EUR, or USD. The bar is tiny so if you’re going with a bunch of friends, come early or make a reservation. For more, see www.biglebowski.cz.

 Café Bar Propaganda

This is a great little bar near the National Theater that is always packed with a grungy local crowd and expats. Not to be confused with Vodka Bar Propaganda near the Old Town Square this bar is a little away from the touristy area which only adds to its authentic and lively atmosphere. It gets really busy in the later hours of the night and no wonder, the beer is pretty cheap and for non-beer drinkers there is a long list of other drinks (including cocktails) on offer. The bar’s specialty is a number of dangerously alcoholic absinth based drinks and due to its location (Pštrossova Street 29) the place is ideal for pre-gaming.
