Non-Touristy Things to do in Prague

Prague is one of the most visited cities in Central Europe and without any question it has many beautiful things to discover. Not only the historical tourist attractions like The Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and Old Town Square, but also many non-touristy things. So if you want to see something more, that just what you can find in every tourist guide, check out this post about unique places in Prague.

Parks

There are parks all over Prague if you are interested in walking and best views of the city. Letná Park is one of the top attractions in Prague, but not many tourists go there. Sit down and relax at one of the many beer gardens. Right at the top of the hill you’ll find a giant metronome, with the cool ‘’shoe monument’’. Or Hike up to Petřínské Sady, where you will find a miniature version of the Eiffel Tower, landscaped gardens and the unusual Church of St Michael.

Farmer’s Markets

The market usually offers seasonal vegetables, freshly baked bread and cakes, pickles and preserves along with sausages and other specialist meats. There is one on Náplavka and another one on Jiřího z Poděbrad and its open Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays during the day and on Saturdays from 8 AM to 2 PM.

An Alternative Castle

Swap Prague Castle with long queues for Vyšehrad with grassy grounds stocked full of locals having picnics with family and friends. The cemetery at Vyšehrad is also home to many of Czech greats of art and music, including Alphonse Mucha whose works you can find here, inside of the Peter and Paul church.

Art

If you are into something unusual and new you should definitely visit works of David Černý located all around Prague. For example giant babies crawling up the Žižkov tower and giant rotating statue of Franz Kafka’s head.

There are plenty of art installations in the side streets near the Old Town Square. So keep your eyes open for art everywhere. It may be even falling from the sky like statues hanging from the sky all over the Old Town and Upside down sculpture of King Wenceslas riding an upside-down horse, which is apparently dead.

Have some fun!

Another fun attraction in Prague are Escape games ! A great way to test your abilities and have some fun with friends. In Questerland you can find escape games inspired by movies like Star Wars, Harry Potter and many more! Thanks to technologies like Virtual reality, interactive systems and other SMART elements, the Questerland.cz escape games are one of the best in Prague.
